Department of Education looking to hire new CISO

The Department of Education is on the hunt for a new chief information security officer.

The department posted a listing earlier this month for the role, formally referred to as the director of information assurance services, and principal adviser to the CIO and deputy CIO.

The CISO is the department’s authority on “policies, procedures, guidance and technologies impacting the Department’s cyber-security program,” and ensuring compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act and E-Government Act, according to the USAJobs listing for the position.

The new hire will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and privacy of the department, as well as “the coordination and integration of all aspects of the Department’s cyber, telecommunications, and information security programs,” the listing states.
